According to a complaint filed in circuit court for the Florida Department of Revenue, the long-time chocolatier at 2650 N. U.S. 1 in Fort Pierce owes more than $30,000 in back taxes and penalties and has been operating illegally since its certificate of registration was revoked April 15.

The company’s subsidiary SelectBuild Florida, has offices in Jupiter and Fort Pierce. It’s unclear how many local employees will be affected by the closure. The company’s other offices in Sunrise, Orlando, Fort Myers and Sarasota will also close.

A man told investigators he’d bought some trailers from Florida Tire Recycling in the 9600 block of Range Line Road for scrap. He said Christopher Cuilla and another of his employees were cutting a trailer with circular saws when Cuilla fell.
